I like it, how all just fades away in the end.

Talking about pictures, you just use a camera taking the shot, from the right angle, then cut the rest out in photoshop, or something like that?

Yep, like that, light-digital camera-and crop in photoshop, then working with colors, curves and levels in photoshop until it is similar enough with the original painting.
